2004 Lailey Vineyard
Chardonnay VQA
winemaker's
tasting note
This Chardonnay has been barrel-fermented and barrel-aged.
It is a generous Chardonnay with ripe yellow apple and pineapple fruit
character and notes of butterscotch and buttered brown toast. The wine
is medium-bodied with a rich, smooth texture.
review
4 out of 5 stars
"This is a text book example of Lailey Vineyard Chardonnay, which
is consistently at the top of its class in Niagara. The 2004 suggests
an attractive herbal/spice mix on the nose with that coconut milk character
that seems to be the hallmarkof Lailey Vineyard. The palate is rich and
rewarding, with ripe pineapple and buttery apple flavours emerging on
the lingerng finish. Still very young, I found this wine needed time in
the glass to open up and show its true personality. I would consider quickly
decanting it before serving." Chris Waters, VINES.
