August
Cellars
was founded in 2002 by the Clarence Schaad family. The farm land was purchased
in 1942 and the family has been farming it continuously since then. Being located
in Oregon, August Cellars produces, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer
and Maréchal Foch.
This
wine was made from fruit sourced out of the Yakima Valley in eastern Washington.
The juice was separated into four separate lots and then inoculated with four
different yeasts to achieve luscious fruit complexity.
tasting note
This
wine is wonderfully fruity - apricot and peaches on the nose, with passion fruit,
peach, mango, grapefruit and a hint of banana and flint on the palate. It is
an off-dry Riesling with about 1% residual sugar .
review
Recommended by NW Palate magazine: "The aromas of
this wine are like smelling a harvest basket of fruit...Viscous flavors of apricot
and white peach are mouth-filling, while a wink of zippy acidity on the finish
gives verve."
