I started Origo wine agency in the spring of 2007 to sell wines in Alberta from the winery I helped to found - Lailey Vineyard - alongside little-known international wines that excite and intrigue me.

Origo offers wine education too, with an emphasis on the weird and wonderful and an attention to quality and value.

ORIGO — Latin for ‘original’ or ‘the source’.

 

Bio
I grew up on a 20-acre vineyard in Niagara-on-the-Lake, spending
countless hours working with vines.

I left the farm to study political science at Dalhousie and Queen's Univeristies. After completing
a Masters degree at the latter, I returned to the land to work and to study wine. I earned a Sommelier
certification through the Sommelier Guild of Canada in October 2000.

In the same year, I started Lailey Vineyard winery with my parents, husband and business partners Derek and Judith Barnett.
I have been selling Lailey wine and managing its marketing since then.

In the summer of 2006, I moved to Calgary with my husband and our daughter and remain an active partner in Lailey Vineyard winery, though I dedicate most of my working time to this new venture.
